Our team is fully trained and committed to providing excellence in every aspect of care. When you are with us you will be treated like family. We understand that going to the dentist can be a stressful experience, especially for new patients and young children, so we take the extra time to ensure you or your child feel at ease and prepared for your procedure. We’ll explain all aspects of the work to be done so there is no guesswork or anxiety around wondering what to expect.
Dr. Bernard Campbell
BDSc (Melb), General Dentist
Ballina welcomed Dr Bernard Campbell to the practice as an associate dentist in 2015. Dr Campbell originally completed his Bachelor of Dental Science in 1984 at the Melbourne University. Since obtaining his qualifications he has gone on to gain extensive experience.
Dr Campbell began his career working in Melbourne, before spending time working abroad in London. After two years he returned to Melbourne (Carlton) where he continued to grow his skills and knowledge. His career has also seen him work in the Mornington Peninsula, locum in Darwin (including weekly visits to Bathurst Island), and volunteering in Cambodia.
Across all his roles, Dr Campbell thoroughly enjoys meeting a variety of people and identifying their unique dental needs. He is passionate about providing quality care and holds interests in general family dentistry, crowns & bridges, and dental implants.
Dr Campbell is passionate about the field of dentistry and regularly attends continuing professional development courses including oral surgery, endodontics and laser. He is also a member of the Australian Dental Association.
He is also a keen fisherman and loves to spend quality time with his sons and wife enjoying the great outdoors
Dr. Leo Ham
BDSc (Hons.), PGDip (Dent Imp), Dip PCD (RCSI), MFDRCS (Irel.)
Dr Leo was acquainted with dentistry from a young age, having worked closely with his father, one of the first oral surgeons in the region. After completing his dental degree at the University of Queensland with Honours, he practised general dentistry with a focus in oral surgery, implantology and rehabilitation. After years of practice in Queensland, he relocated to the northern rivers region which he now calls home.
Following formal postgraduate studies and multiple international certifications in dental surgery, Dr Leo now focuses on minimally invasive methods, helping patients access the benefits of dental implants while maximising patient comfort. Having seen the long-term outcomes of dental treatment in his family clinics for decades, he is passionate about leaving a legacy – dental treatment that stands the test of time.

Dr. Theo Gan
BDSc (Hons.)
Dr Theo’s passion for creativity and science emerged early in his life, igniting a natural interest in dentistry. Raised in diverse environments such as Singapore, Indonesia, and Brisbane, he developed a deep appreciation for the interconnectedness of community health and the importance of dental care. With a Bachelor’s degree in Dental Science (Honours) from the University of Queensland, Dr Theo has a strong academic foundation. He has a keen interest in exploring all aspects of general dentistry, with a focus on restorative dentistry.
Dr Theo approaches dentistry through the lens of compassion and collaboration, recognizing the unique needs of each patient and ensuring they feel listened to, valued, and actively involved in their oral health journey.
Dr. Shizuka Mahara
Dentist
Dr.Shizuka’s passion for dentistry stems from her desire to help people regain confidence in their smiles and live without dental pain. Originally from Japan, she studied dentistry at Griffith University on the Gold Coast and has since developed a strong focus on restorative treatments and emergency care. She takes pride in delivering high-quality work while ensuring her patients feel comfortable and supported throughout their treatment.
Dr.Shizuka believes in a patient-centered approach, actively listening to concerns and addressing them with care and without judgment. Fluent in Japanese, Chinese, and English, she enjoys building genuine connections with her patients and making dentistry a positive experience for them.
Outside of work, Dr.Shizuka enjoys cooking and cycling—though she has yet to conquer the steep hill right in front of her house!
Dr. Jessica Jonggowisastro

Dr. Jessica graduated from the University of Melbourne and has over 10 years of experience providing high-quality dental care in private practice. Having recently relocated from Melbourne to the Northern Rivers, she is excited to be part of the local community and enjoys helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles.
Dr Jessica believes exceptional dentistry starts with listening. She takes the time to understand each patient’s concerns, goals and expectations before creating personalised treatment plans tailored to their individual needs. Combining a gentle chair side manner with clear communication and meticulous attention to detail, she strives to ensure every patient feels comfortable, informed and confident throughout every stage of their care.
While she enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, Dr Jessica has a particular passion for cosmetic and restorative dentistry. Her special interests include smile makeovers, porcelain veneers, comprehensive restorative dentistry and full mouth rehabilitation. She is passionate about creating healthy, natural-looking smiles that are not only aesthetically beautiful, but also functional and built to last, helping patients regain confidence in their smile.
Committed to clinical excellence, Dr Jessica is a member of the Australian Dental Association and is dedicated to ongoing professional development. She recently completed a Clinical Diploma in Aesthetic & Restorative Dentistry through the Australasian College of Dental Practitioners and continues to pursue advanced education to stay at the forefront of contemporary techniques, digital technology and evidence-based dentistry.
Outside the clinic, Dr Jessica enjoys travelling with her husband, staying active outdoors, playing tennis, golf and skiing, and exploring the Northern Rivers’ beautiful beaches, restaurants and scenic hinterland.
